Terms of Service
The short version: Altcloak gives you email addresses that forward to your main email. Use them for your own accounts, within the rules of the services you use them on. We can retire an address that is abused. You can leave any time and take your list with you.
1. What Altcloak is
Altcloak ("we", "us") is an alt email service at altcloak.com. You create addresses ending in @altcloak.com ("alt emails"). Mail sent to an alt email is forwarded to the main email address you confirmed. Altcloak is operated as a small independent service; the contact for anything in these terms is support@altcloak.com.
You can also add alts you already have on other email addresses, so every alt is tracked in the same list. For those we keep only what you type (the address, the account name, the platform or site, and the game password if you choose to save it). We never receive, read or send mail for them.
Altcloak is new and still changing. Features can be added, changed or withdrawn, and we will tell you in the app when something you use changes.
Altcloak is not connected to Steam, Riot, Discord, Epic, Roblox or any other game or platform. Their names belong to them. Their rules still apply to you: an alt email does not change what they allow, and it is on you to check that a second account is permitted before you make one.
2. Your account
- You sign in with Discord, GitHub, or an email and password. If you choose a password, we keep only a salted, peppered hash of it, never the password itself.
- By creating an account or signing in you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.
- Age. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, to use Altcloak. Altcloak is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
- You are responsible for what is done with your alt emails. Keep your Discord, GitHub or email account secure; anyone who controls it controls your Altcloak account.
- One person, one account. Alt emails are for accounts you own and use yourself.
- Your main email must be a real mailbox you can keep. We refuse throwaway and disposable addresses as the main email, because mail to your alts has to reach you.
3. What you may not do
Altcloak exists so you do not have to create throwaway email accounts. It is not a tool for hurting other people or other services.
You may use Altcloak only for accounts you are allowed to create and operate under the third party's rules. You may not use Altcloak to evade a ban, suspension, account limit, age gate, phone or MFA requirement, identity check, or another enforcement or security measure where doing so would violate that service's rules.
You also may not use an alt email, or Altcloak, to:
- send spam, phishing, scams or malware, or receive mail for those purposes;
- harass, threaten, stalk or impersonate anyone;
- create accounts in bulk, sell or rent accounts or alt emails, or operate on behalf of people who are not you;
- do anything illegal where you live or where we operate;
- probe, overload, scrape or attack Altcloak itself.
To protect the altcloak.com name for everyone, there is a limit on how fast alt emails can be made: a few a day, fewer in your first week, on every plan. The exact numbers are shown in the app when you get close to them.
Abuse reports go to abuse@altcloak.com. We may pause or retire an alt email, or close an account, when we have a reasonable belief it is being used against these rules; for clear abuse we do this at once. Where we can, we tell you why. We may also close accounts that break these terms in other ways, with notice.
4. Mail
- Forwarding is best effort. Mail can be delayed, filtered as spam by your provider, or rejected by size or policy limits. Do not rely on an alt email for anything where a lost message would cause serious harm.
- We do not store the content of forwarded mail. We keep a log line per message (which alt email, when, delivered or rejected) so you can see activity and we can stop abuse.
- Replying from an alt email sends mail on your behalf through our mail provider. You are the sender of anything you send. Replies are limited per day by plan, and we keep who you replied to and when, not what you wrote.
- Most forwarded messages carry a protected reply address, so a reply from your main email leaves from the alt email. When a sender sets its own reply address, we cannot replace it; the alt is marked in the app and you get a protected address to write to instead.
- A deleted alt email is retired for good; its address is never issued to anyone else, and mail to it bounces.
5. Stored passwords
You may choose to store, with an alt email, the password you used on the site you signed up for. It is encrypted at rest with a key kept outside the database, and the service decrypts it only when your signed-in account asks for it. This is a convenience, not a password manager; keep your own backup, and understand that if you lose access to your Altcloak account you lose access to those stored passwords.
6. Plans and payment
- Free includes a small number of alt emails. Plus, Pro and Max are monthly subscriptions with more alt emails and extra features, priced as shown on the site. You can switch between them at any time; changes are prorated.
- Prices can change. If a change affects a plan you pay for, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- Refer a friend: when someone signs up through your invite link and takes a paid plan, their first month and your next month are discounted by 80%. One discount per referred friend, no cash value, and we may withdraw the offer or void discounts obtained by creating accounts for yourself.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card number. Subscriptions renew monthly until you cancel, which you can do at any time from the billing page; you keep your plan until the end of the month you paid for.
- If you cancel or a payment fails, your account drops to Free. Existing alt emails keep working and nothing is deleted, but you cannot create new ones until you are under the Free limit or on a paid plan again.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, subscription charges are non-refundable. If a paid Altcloak feature was materially unavailable because of a failure on our side, contact support@altcloak.com and we will review a refund or account credit.
7. Leaving
You can export your alt email list at any time and delete your account from the Account section. Deletion cancels any subscription first; if the cancellation cannot be confirmed, deletion stops and you can try again. Then mail to your alt emails stops, every sign-in and link is cut off, and you have 30 days to change your mind by signing in again, which restores your alt emails on the Free plan. After 30 days your notes, stored passwords, forwarding address, sign-in identity and referral link are removed for good. What stays: the retired addresses themselves, with no notes and no owner, so they are never issued to anyone else, and log lines needed for abuse prevention for up to 90 days.
8. Changes and shutdown
We may change these terms; when we do, the date at the top changes and important changes are announced in the app or by email.
If Altcloak plans to shut down, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice so you can move accounts that rely on an Altcloak address. We may provide less notice if a security incident, legal requirement, provider failure, or another event outside our reasonable control makes that necessary.
9. No warranty, limited liability, your responsibility
Altcloak is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost mail, lost access to a third-party account, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
If someone brings a claim against us because of what you did with Altcloak in breach of these terms, you agree to cover the costs and damages that come from it.
10. Disputes and law
If you have a problem with us, write to support@altcloak.com first and say what went wrong; we will try to fix it within 30 days before either side takes it further.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not take away any non-waivable rights you have under the laws that apply where you live.
